SCHOOL OF MUSIC- BRAND INFLUENCE ON A SONG

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: BRAND INFLUENCE ON A SONG.

This post is actually the part 2 of my previous post titled "SONGS AND TIMING". If you haven't read the part one, kindly go through my timeline and read it.

In part one of the post, I mentioned that some songs need your "brand Influence" to blow and some people asked me to explain what this means. I also said that it is important to know that some songs don't have the strength to blow you at the level you are now, but they can build on what you have already achieved and so if you release such song now at the level you are, it can not do much for you.

Every artiste need this knowledge else you will kill a song that can be useful to your brand later if you release it prematurely. It might be a great song that will blow if you already have some Influence but if you want to use it to build Influence, you would have destroyed the song. There are many great songs like this in the market. I listen to them and wondered if only this Artistes know how best to handle this songs.

Two years ago, while working with some Artistes of a Gospel Record Label to discover their hit songs, one of the Artistes sang a song he featured one fast growing Gospel artiste on, and I said to him that we are not releasing that song now. He was shocked that I turned down the song. Then I explained to him that the song needs Influence to blow and the Influence of both of them is not strong enough to fly the song. Last year, working with a secular record label, I had this same situation. This Artiste did a song with DREMO and was so excited about releasing the song. After listening to the song, I advised the Label not to release the song yet unless they want to waste money to get little result. However I coached them on what to do.

This might be new to many of you, but it's actually one of the reasons most artistes can't blow yet. Let me use EBEN to explain this better so you can understand better.

I Believe that all of you reading this post know the popular Eben song "ALL THE WAY". Yeah! The song is more like a gospel anthem today but what you don't know is that it took Influence for the song to blow.

If ask many of you when the song was released, you would say 2018 because that was when the song became a Hit. But truth is that the song was released as far back 2012/2013. I am sure most of you have never seen the video of the song. Yes. That's because the video was released as far back as 2014. Years before the song became a hit. So it took the song between 4-5 years to become a hit. What Happened?

When Eben released the song, his Influence could not carry the song at that moment. As eben's Influence increased, he re-released the song in 2018 and boom the song became an anthem. That's why if you Google the song, most blog will say it was released in 2018 but that's not true. He released it again after his Influence grew. This is so important for an artiste.

Just imagine if 9Nice had released his song "No Be Mistake" before "Congo Aso", the song would have been dead on arrival. No be mistake doesn't have the strength to blow 9nice at that level but the song did a very good job building on what he had achieved with Congo Aso song.

Understand this and use it to your brand advantage. This skill works together with the knowledge of how to discover hit songs. This is why you should sign up for my class now as I will be teaching "How to discover hit songs" as a course..
