SCHOOL OF MUSIC - MENTOR'S HEART

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: MENTOR'S HEART I have shared a few thoughts on mentorship on this space before and I am sure by now you already know the importance of having a mentor; an accessible mentor. If you don't have one please prayerfully find one for yourself. This article is meant to share a few thoughts on how to maximize and make benefit of your mentorship season. I carefully used the word "Benefit" because that's the most important thing about having a mentor. It should benefit you or should I say profit you. However this in itself is a problem. Most mentees go into MENTORSHIP relationship with focus on what they will benefit. They are in that mentorship relationship for what they can gain, take and benefit from to grow their career/ministry. Please listen to this, don't go into a mentorship relationship with the BENEFIT mindset. I know you want to learn, you want to grow, you want to ride on the shoulder of your mentors to maximize great platforms. All that i...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - HOW TO WIN A RECORD CONTRACT WITH A LABEL

SCHOOL OF MUSIC :::  HOW TO GET A RECORD CONTRACT WITH A LABEL.  I have written a very important article about gospel Artistes and record label some months back. It is a very enlightening article and I sincerely think you need to read that first before you read what I am about to say here. It is important you understand a few things about record label before you read how to get one. Please click on this link below to read that article titled "Gospel Artistes and Record Labels" https://www.facebook.com/2064807263796279/posts/2602622476681419/ Now I assume that you have read that article, so you understand that a record label is a business organization, not ministry or charity. Although there are a few labels that run as ministry and charity but that is not a standard and not always the case. A proper label is a business. Now this is important because every business is set up for only one reason, to make PROFIT. I know you have heard people say a business is set up to solve pro...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC--- PERSONAL BRANDING AS AN ARTISTE

SCHOOL OF MUSIC: PERSONAL BRANDING AS AN ARTISTE. I know this might take awhile for some of you to understand sha, but it's fine. I will keep at it until just one person gets it. I wanted to do a live video today but somehow I got busy.. I will need you to read the gist in the pictures attached to this post and understand a few things about personal branding as an artiste and how serious this matter is. Maybe not now but in future it will be more serious. In my first live video I did on Sunday after Experience, I mentioned this issue of artiste going to perform other people's songs and getting paid for it. Some people think I was taking this matter too far but truly it is a very serious matter. Yesterday I wrote a lot about Influence and how your songs can create Influence for you. In business that's actually personal branding. Your songs are your brand, your trade mark. As an artiste, you don't really have an "identity" musically without a song. Every Bra...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC--- TENANT MENTALITY

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: TENANT MENTALITY Honestly I don't know who this message is for but I need you to listen and take it seriously. You can not build a successful music ministry career on other people's songs. That is a Tenant Mentality. Going about singing other people's song and just feeling comfortable doing that proves you have a Tenant Mentality. As for those of you who are now converting secular songs to gospel songs, the angel that will flog you people at heaven's gate is still receiving training on how to flog you people. That's the highest level of abuse on your creativity. In fact I don't even know the right words to describe how terrible that is. That's the lowest level you can go. A friend spoke on this yesterday and said when you do this, you cut short your supply of divine creative abilities. I listened to the Gospel version of Blow my Mind by Davido and Chris Brown and I felt like throwing up. I once heard the Gospel version of Psquare's...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC--- DON'T BE A ONE HIT ARTISTE

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:::  DON'T BE A ONE HIT ARTISTE. The caption for this post has already conveyed my message but as a gentleman that I am, I will still shade more lights on the matter, so follow me carefully. Being a one hit artiste is risky, dangerous and puts you in a very disadvantage position as an artiste. The sad reality is, most artistes are wishing, praying and begging God for just One Hit song. Biko go and listen to Cohbams Asuquo song titled 'ONE HIT'. It is a beautiful song that truly describe most of you. If you are one of the artistes praying and begging God to give you just one Hit song, then you may not even see value in this post. But still don't run away ooo. Just follow me jeje. Creating a hit song is a very very very simple thing to do and I mean this. You can wake up everyday and create a hit song Intentionally and make it go viral. No need to pray and beg God for it. God is not against you blowing, God is not your problem, your problem is ignorance...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC-- DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A SINGLE HIT ARTISTE

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::  DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A ONE HIT ARTISTE part 2.. In the part one of this post, I shared some deep stuff about the disadvantages of being a one hit Artiste and why you should not be comfortable with having just one hit song even if it's a supposed EVERGREEN song. Later in another of my post I will share some deep secrets on this EVERGREEN songs and why you can't trust your entire career on it if that's the only hit you have. Now this post is not for artistes who are praying for just one hit songs to blow them ooo. It is for artistes who wants to build massive Influence by Intentionally creating hit upon hit songs. I stated clearly in part one that one song can't sustain your career/ministry in this season. We are currently having hundreds of songs released everyday and that means more possibility for more hit songs to come out. It won't be long before your one hit start losing value. This is why you need to learn how to create hit songs Intenti...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC--- GOSPEL ARTISTES vs RECORD LABEL

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::  Gospel Artistes Vs Record Labels. This is still part of my "Music Business" post. Yesterday, I established the fact that nobody really does music for money, however, money is very important for you to create quality resource that will build your brand. I am taking time to lay foundation for the Music Business post because it is huge. I will not even be able to finish it in one post. I know that a lot of you artistes are praying for a record label to sign you and sponsor your career. That's a beautiful prayer. But do you even understand what a record label is? Do you know what it means to be signed to a record label? If you have a slight understanding what that means, you would stop praying and wishing that yeye prayer and wish.. you can't be looking for, wishing for or praying for a record label when you have a terrible mindset about the "Business of Music"... You can't tell a record label that is going to put in millions of Naira on...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - ALBUM IDENTITY

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:::  ALBUM IDENTITY In part one of this series, I explained to you that an album is a bad choice for an upcoming artiste. This is the part two of album syndrome post. Like I always say. Everything has it's formula. If you get the formula right, you will get the right results. The first reason why you should avoid the idea and temptation to produce an album is because music is expensive to promote and it is more difficult to promote an album to gain Influence and relevance than to promote a song. As a matter of fact, the influence and value of an album is gotten by the influence of the songs in the album. Biko read that last line again. It is songs that give an album its value and Influence. Every successful big artistes in the world is known by their songs and not their album. Read that again too Biko. See one day I was teaching this principle to a music client and I asked him if he knew TUFACE and he was like haba! Who doesn't know TUBABA? So I asked him to ...
