I am currently running classes to help artiste discover or create their sounds and I feel I should share a few deep thoughts with you.


I want to try as much as possible to communicate these thoughts as simple as I possibly can, because it will change your music career/ministry.



If as an artiste, you can not answer with a word or a simple phrase what your message is, then you are far from ministry and especially far from music Influence. In the school of music influence, discovering or creating your own unique music sound is the easiest way to not only gain influence but also to sustain influence.



Until you are sure of your message, you can never create or discover your own unique sound in music. This might come to you as a shock but it is true. I know many of you actually think that a music sound is a genre or is determined by a genre of music but that's not true. Two Raggae or two RnB artistes will have different sounds.



Knowing and understanding your message is the FIRST stage to creating or discovering your own sound. This is not a popular knowledge but you can take this to the bank. 


You said you are doing ministry abi? How? What exactly is your ministry? Singing? Lol.. Singing is not a ministry. What you sing is the ministry, what is your message? 


You must have your own message as an artiste. Very very important.. Your message is your assignment and your assignment is in your message. Jesus and John the Baptist were on earth at the same time, John's assignment was to prepare the way for Jesus.. His message was simple: "Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand".  Jesus on the other hand had the assignment of saving the world of sin. He simply preached the Kingdom and showing men what the kingdom of God was like. He never went about preaching repentance. He saved, healed, delivered and loved just so men would feel the Kingdom on earth.



Every Influential pastor in the world has a message they are known for. Daddy Kumuyi and Bishop Oyedepo don't have the same message, Pastor Chris and Daddy Adeboye don't preach same message, Pastor Sam Adeyemi and Pastor Poju don't have the same message. I am sure if you pay attention to them you will know what each of them preach. It is simple, if you want influence fast, you must be known for something. 



In music, your sound is your SIGNATURE. You know that hardly can you find two people with same signature right? Yeah!



If you want to gain influence(blow) you must start by discovering or creating your own sound and the only way this is possible is by first understanding and defining your own message. Now let me clear something very important because you might say but I already know my message so how come I don't understand my sound yet. I said earlier that knowing your message is the FIRST stage to finding your own sound. After knowing your message, the SECOND stage is the most crucial where you will now convert that message into your own sound.



Now you might also be wondering, what if your message is similar to another artiste message, won't we have the same sound? 


This is why I am here to help you on this journey. 


That you have similar message to another artiste doesn't necessarily mean you will have same sound.  GUC and DUNSIN have similar message but different sounds, Frank Edwards and Mercy Chinwo have similar message but different sounds. Why and How this is possible is what I am teaching my students in MUSIC SOUND DISCOVERY CLASS.


In my sound discovery class, one of the most powerful assignments I give my students is to find out the sounds of certain top artists. You too can try that out today, it will help you understand a few things I am sharing here with you.


An artiste without a sound will not gain influence, if they do, they will struggle afterwards until they lose relevance. I know some popular artistes today who don't know or understand their sounds, if they don't learn fast, they will soon lose relevance. Some of them are your mentors and role models. You are already lost if your mentor doesn't know road ooo. 



Last week I asked one of my students to mention two Hit songs from each of her three music mentors and she couldn't, even though those mentors are popular. They have plenty songs but no memorable Hits. It is because they don't have sounds or let me say they don't understand their sound yet. They are just all over the place.

Truth is that they are actually active in music but you don't get to hear them because they have no more hits. Yes many of them are releasing and promoting their songs ooooo but for where?
