SCHOOL OF MUSIC - THE STRUGGLE FOR RELEVANCE AFTER BLOWING

SCHOOL OF MUSIC ::: THE STRUGGLE FOR RELEVANCE AFTER BLOWING Recently I have been thinking a lot about some artistes who dropped Hits back then and went extinct. Truth is that they are actually active in music but you don't get to hear them because they have no more hits. Yes many of them are releasing and promoting their songs ooooo but for where? You don't get to hear them because the songs are not blowing again. To figure out how to address the matter, we have to first know what their problem really is. The real problem is that these guys blow by accident. Accident is never an organized structure to replicate. If you blow by accident and be thinking it is grace, you will struggle for years to make another hit until you go extinct. Hit songs are created intentionally and if you don't know how this works, you are in for struggle. When Psquare broke up, I told people that Paul Rudeboy will be more relevant in music than Peter P Classic. I got to know that Rudeboy was respon...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC - PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU EITHER Few months ago I made a statement that seemed rather controversial just like the headline on this post. I said if your song needed money to blow, then it was never a hit song in the first place. A lot of people couldn't take that in and I got a lot of messages inbox to explain what I mean. It is simple, a song blows because it is a hit not because you promote well enough. The essence of promotion is not to blow a song, it is to get the song to people for it to be known. You promote so that the world will know your song, knowing your song doesn't mean the song will blow.  For a song to blow, it must be loved by many, it is the love for the song that keeps the sound in the air for a long time, not your promotion. Please read that again slowly. Understand that the purpose for promotion is for the product to be known. Whether it is liked, loved or discarded depends on the product. Some may say the package but that is only but a s...

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: THE OTHER SIDE OF CONSISTENCY

SCHOOL OF MUSIC::: THE OTHER SIDE OF CONSISTENCY.. Recently I was listening to some songs I received from some young artistes and I really felt that these songs have the potential to go farther, reach more people and make more impact than it has done. I even listened to two songs of this Abuja based artiste and everytime I listened to those songs, I am convinced that this song has everything it takes to go viral. I recently sent one of the songs to a friend and he told me that the song has been on repeat ever since, he asked me for the name of the artiste so he could get more of his songs. You see erhn, one of the saddest things I have seen, observed or noticed with gospel artistes especially the young ones, is the rush to drop new songs. They are in a hurry to abandon the old songs they have released and start planning and pursuing the release of a new song. Some of these songs they have abandoned and rush off to drop new songs actually hold the key to their breakthrough but because t...
