SCHOOL OF MUSIC - PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU

SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: PROMOTION WILL NOT BLOW YOU EITHER

Few months ago I made a statement that seemed rather controversial just like the headline on this post. I said if your song needed money to blow, then it was never a hit song in the first place. A lot of people couldn't take that in and I got a lot of messages inbox to explain what I mean.

It is simple, a song blows because it is a hit not because you promote well enough. The essence of promotion is not to blow a song, it is to get the song to people for it to be known. You promote so that the world will know your song, knowing your song doesn't mean the song will blow.

For a song to blow, it must be loved by many, it is the love for the song that keeps the sound in the air for a long time, not your promotion. Please read that again slowly.

Understand that the purpose for promotion is for the product to be known. Whether it is liked, loved or discarded depends on the product. Some may say the package but that is only but a shadow. If you like package shit in gold plates, once the buyer unwrap it and discover that it is shit in there, they will throw it away and won't patronize you ever.

This explains why you download a song listen to it and delete it immediately. You know that it is not every song you know that you like or loved right? Yeah!!

That song you downloaded and deleted was probably promoted to get to you but did it blow just because it got to everyone in the world? Absolutely No.

A song blows only because it is loved and you really don't need promotion to discover this. As a music content coach, I can literally spot a song that will blow even before it is recorded. Yes I can and I say this with a mix of pride and humility 😀😀

If you think I can't, I can not be blame for your limitation oooo. We are not on the same street in this music business.

There are accurate measures you can use to find out if your song stands a chance before promotion. I have told you guys before, I know a few artistes that have spent millions promoting one song and it didn't blow. You think it is money that's keeping you from blowing. You are waiting to have 10 million to blow it on promotion? Lol you go soon learn the hard way ooooo.

The most important part of promotion is the quality of the product. If you invest money into promoting a bad product, it won't fly. People will get to know it but they will not love it.

Remember it is the love people have for your song that keeps the sound in the air for a long time. It is not your promotion, in fact I always tell artistes that nobody really has enough money to promote a song to blow. When a song is a hit in itself, it flies on its own to places your money can not take it. Yes! I know this for a fact.

So what? Am I discouraging you from promoting your song? No, Absolutely No. I am saying stop thinking that you are not blowing because you don't have millions to promote, check out most artistes you know today, they blew when they had nothing and some are now struggling when they are putting in millions for promotion.

Blowing is first about the product which is the song, first find that Hit song before promotion. If you follow me long enough, you would know that I teach how to create Hit songs intentionally. Yes you can consciously create a hit song and I am not talking about copying a pattern of a particular hit song ooooo, that's cheap creativity for the ignorant.

Pay attention to your song, find the hit amongst your song and promote it. You only need one song to put you out there. Releasing 10 songs in a year hoping one might miraculous blow is not a good business plan.

That money you are blowing away to record 10 songs is more than enough to blow you if you could only discover your hit or simply create one.

Most Christ Embassy Artistes Blow inside the church without a kobo spent on promotion before you hear the song. Too faithful to fail by Moses bliss, victory by Eben, At the centre of it all by Eben, I know who I am by Sinach and many other Christ embassy artistes' songs blew right on stage in the church and flew out to the world.

Promotion will not Blow you, a Hit song will. A song loved by many is the Hit that will blow you. Focus on getting the song right.

As much as Davido is putting into promoting his songs, not all his songs blow. Only the Hits will blow. Promotion is a plus to a Hit song. Promote to get your songs known because if you don't promote you may never stand the chance but make sure you have a good product.
