Last year, I had just finished interviewing a gospel artiste on my Radio program on WC Radio when her manager walked in. The manage shook hands with me and pleaded with me to help them promote his artiste's song. I smiled and asked him to have a seat in the radio studio. I asked them what's there plan for this artiste's career and they dropped a bomb, that they were working towards releasing an album for the artiste.

Instantly my mood changed. First of all, the song ( her single) they are asking me to promote is a wack song. Yes it shouldn't be played anywhere not to talk of promotion and on top of that they were already working on an album? You pipo will not kill somebody in the name of ministry Sha... Lol.

As a gentleman, I quickly told them that if they wanted to success and build Influence in music they should allow me help them show them what to do and how to do it. They agreed and we settled for a fee.

While we were still in that studio, I told them that the first thing to do is to forget about recording an album for now. The artiste got offended like I want to kill her career and that's how they lost an opportunity of a lifetime being coached by me.

Listen to me all you upcoming and old gospel artistes who have no Influence yet in a hurry to drop an album.  Drop the idea now. It will slow down your progress and growth. Yes I know what I am saying ooooo, don't look at me like that. Rushing to drop an album is a terrible music strategy for an upcoming artiste. I have anchored countless album launch for artistes and I know first hand that this is a bad choice and I will tell you why.

Before you drop an album as an artiste, build Influence first. Create and make at least one song become popular before you drop an album.  This is the right strategy to use. It will give your album value and Influence. Check the secular guys, some of them drop up to three to four hit singles before an album. You think they just came to the scene, started recording and releasing hits, most of them have recorded up to 50 songs and above yet no album. They are looking for the hits first. That's how to break even in the music market. But you don't know to waste so much time and money looking for a hit song when you can just wake up and create one if you know what to do.
