SCHOOL OF MUSIC - BRINGING OUT THE BEST IN YOUR SONGS
SCHOOL OF MUSIC:: BRINGING THE BEST OUT OF YOUR SONGS.
Chapter Three
Bring Out The Best From Your Song
This is one topic I am very passionate about. Bringing out the best in your songs is a command. It is serious and every recording artistes must take it seriously. In my career as a celebrity music coach, I have seen many hit songs die in the studio. They were killed either by the producer or the artistes. Every song deserves the best.
Now the word best is relative. To some, they think that giving a song the best means paying a popular producer huge money to produce the song. A popular producer is no guarantee that your song will become a hit. When I say give your song the best, I mean that you should give it attention. Pay attention to details. Don't rush through your recording.
It is also very important that you work with a producer that understands you very well. This helps alot. Your producer is a huge factor in how well your songs come out. It is important that you are not just moved by big names. Know the producer well, be comfortable with the producer, listen to his or her works and be sure you love his sound or more so that it is the kind of sound you need for your song. This is very important. Build a beautiful communication line with your producer such that you can express yourself freely.
All of these things are needed to give your song the best. If the environment is wrong, you might not be able to bring out the best from your songs. A song that has the potential to be a hit can be killed in the wrong environment. A listening producer is a blessing to the artiste. I always recommend that the best producer to work with is a producer that listens because then he can be open to your own ideas. This will help him understand you, the song and the right emotion to communicate with the song.
As an artiste, you should be able to communicate what the song means to you through your singing. The audience must be able to feel what you feel in that song. Some singers have the Mentality that they are singing to an audience. No! That's a wrong mentality. You are not singing to an audience, you are communicating emotions. This is crucial to how much you are able to connect with your audience. Singing is like acting.
